I especially love the first one. But the second one reminds me of a watermelon I lived in once. Those were good days.

It was long ago, during my bohemian days. A bunch of us lived upstairs, proofreading for various fringe publications, translating unwritten essays into languages we didn’t understand. Of course none of us were paid, and so we couldn’t manage our rent, but the landlady was crazy and didn’t mind. She also owned a derelict pumpkin. Some friends moved there and were never heard from again. It all sounds kind of silly now, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Matisse never got a window like that second one.

But I suspect he dreamed it existed.
